Baby Believers Primer

It’s a fact that each and every child is unique and special in their own way. Our family is no exception - we have a 2 boys and a girl and our son has epilepsy. While this presents some challenges, it's also a reminder that God's creativity is on full display in each of us.

That's why I was so excited to discover the book "God Made Me and You" by Shai Linne. This wonderful children's book celebrates the beauty of diversity, exploring all the ways God has made us unique - from our skin colors and hair textures to any physical differences or disabilities we may have.

The story follows a classroom scenario where a young boy is being teased for how he looks. The teacher steps in to remind the students that we are all created in God's image and deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. She uses Scripture and creative illustrations to showcase the incredible diversity we see throughout the natural world and in one another.

As a parent, I found this book to be such a valuable tool for opening up conversations about acceptance and appreciation for our differences. It's never too early to start teaching our kids that what makes us unique is also what makes us special.

The book even includes 6 practical tips for helping children celebrate God's design for ethnic diversity. From reading diverse books to exposing them to different cultures, there are so many ways we can foster an attitude of inclusion in our homes.

I'm so grateful to have found this gem of a resource. It's a wonderful reminder that in a world that so often focuses on our differences, we can choose to see the beauty in what makes us unique. After all, as the book says, "two snowflakes are never the same" - and that's a beautiful thing.

I encourage all parents to check out "God Made Me and You" and use it as a springboard for celebrating the diversity in your own family and community. It's a powerful way to reflect the love of our creative, inclusive God.
