The Christmas Promise

This beautifully illustrated story is a part of the "Tales that Tell the Truth" series from the Good Book Company. It follows the biblical narrative of the birth of Jesus, tracing God's promise of a new king who would be our rescuer and reign forever.

The book starts by explaining how long ago, God promised that a special new king would come. Then, we see the angels appearing to Mary and the shepherds, announcing the birth of this promised king - the baby Jesus. My son especially enjoys the parts where the angel appears, because he knows to shout "Whoosh!" Then the shepherds and wise men make the journey to find the child in the manger, and we're reminded that this king is unlike any other.

The language is simple and engaging, and the illustrations by Catalina Echeverri are child friendly and absolutely gorgeous. At the end of the book, there's a helpful parent section that provides the biblical references for the key events. This is great for parents who want to dive deeper into the scriptural basis of the story.

Overall, "The Christmas Promise" is a wonderful addition to our holiday book collection. It's a heartwarming way to teach children about the true meaning of Christmas - the arrival of our promised Savior, Jesus Christ.
