Jesus and the Lions’ Den

As a parent, I'm always on the lookout for engaging ways to teach my children about the Bible and the life of Jesus. One series that has really captured my family's attention is the "Tales that Tell the Truth" series  from The Good Book Company.

Today, I want to share my  thoughts on one of my children’s absolute favorite books in this collection - "Jesus and the Lion's Den" by Allison Mitchell.

This clever retelling takes the classic story of Daniel in the lion's den and draws thoughtful parallels to the life of Jesus. The illustrations by Catalina Echeverri are simply beautiful and really bring the story to life.

What I love most about this book is how it invites children to see the connections between Daniel's experience and Jesus' journey to the cross. When Daniel's enemies try to get him in trouble, just like Jesus' enemies did, it sparks great discussion about standing up for your faith, even when it's difficult.

The book also highlights moments of prayer and God's faithfulness - both in Daniel's life and in Jesus' life. It's a powerful reminder that the same God who protected Daniel is the same God who raised Jesus from the dead.

At the end, there's a wonderful parent section that provides additional context and Scripture references. I find these so helpful for diving deeper into the biblical accounts with my curious kids.

If you're looking to build your child's library with high-quality, gospel-centered books, I highly recommend adding the entire "Tales that Tell the Truth" series. "Jesus and the Lion's Den" is a standout favorite in our home, and I think it will quickly become one of your family's treasures too.
